September 11th, 2001
On September 11th, 2001 a series of four attacks were carried out by the al-Qaeda terrorist group. Two of which lead to the destruction of the twin towers based in New York City, claiming the lives of 2,977 victims.

Hurricane Katrina was an extremely destructive and deadly Category 5 hurricane that struck the Gulf Coast of the United States from August 23rd - August 31st, 2005. At the end of Katrina’s reign, 1,833 fatalities and 125 billion dollars in damage remained.
